Whether you like to travel, love spending time in a lab, or prefer to chart your own course of study, you'll find countless opportunities in the College of Arts & Sciences for engagement and learning, in the classroom and beyond. The body of research, scholarship and creative works emerging from the College of Arts & Sciences is vast, with one common thread -- ALL of our research is curiosity-based. You can read more about some of the special opportunities in A&S at the links below.

  • Humanities Scholars Program
    • The Humanities Scholars Program fosters independent, interdisciplinary undergraduate research in the humanities, and provides a supportive community, through a series of curated courses, structured mentorship, special programming, and research opportunities and funding.
  • Milstein Program in Technology and Humanity
    • The Milstein Program creates a small cohort of extraordinary first year undergraduates each year who are excited by interdisciplinary thinking, dynamic collaboration, and emergent technology. The Program offers a supportive community of engaged learners, speaker series along with core courses, unique skill sessions, mentorship, career development, and research opportunities, including an 8 week immersive experience at Cornell Tech on Roosevelt Island.
  • Robert S. Harrison College Scholar Program
    • The Robert S. Harrison College Scholar Program represents the pinnacle of the liberal arts experience at Cornell. The program is focused on a small group of stellar students whose interests transcend disciplinary boundaries. Students design their own interdisciplinary major, organized around a question or issue of interest, and pursue a course of study that cannot be found in an established major.
  • Nexus Scholars Program
    • The Nexus Scholars Program in the College of Arts & Sciences provides undergraduate students with summer opportunities to work side by side with faculty from all across the college (humanities, social sciences, and STEM) on their research projects.
  • Summer Experience Grants
    • The Summer Experience Grant (SEG) is a collection of summer funding awards that provide financial support for students to complete summer unpaid or minimally paid career-related experiences. SEG supports students with living expenses, transportation, and travel so that these essential experiences are available to all of our students, who may otherwise not be able to afford them.
  • Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship
    • The Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship (MMUF) program is the centerpiece of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation’s initiatives to increase diversity in the faculty ranks of institutions of higher learning. Undergraduate fellows conduct research, work with faculty mentors, and attend workshops and conferences.
