At CALS, you will dive into your major as soon as you set foot on campus. As a result, all students must apply to a specific CALS major and are chosen based upon their academic and personal fit for that course of study.

We encourage you to take time to explore the wide breadth of majors that CALS offers, and apply to the one that best suits your interests and future career goals. To narrow your search, look closely at the concentrations, coursework, and learning outcomes in the majors that interest you. Here are some of the questions to ask yourself when deciding which major is the best fit for you:

  • Which courses or projects stood out as the most important or interesting in your high school experience?
  • Which extracurricular activities do you find yourself looking forward to most each year?
  • Where can you picture yourself plugging into the complex, real-world problems that CALS is interested in solving? These problems span areas such as health risks & challenges, public health response, climate change, food security, conservation of critical resources, economic and community development, and the role of media and emerging technology.

Additionally, we invite you to reach out to our CALS Ambassadors to speak with current students and hear about their experiences within the major(s).
