When applying to the SC Johnson College of Business, can I apply to both Nolan and Dyson? What’s the difference between them?

When applying to the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business, students must choose to apply directly to either the Cornell Peter and Stephanie Nolan School of Hotel Administration or the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management. However, they also can indicate if they would like to be considered for the alternate program. Most students have a clear path and should apply to whichever school they believe is the right fit for them based on the curricular and extra-curricular offerings of the school. Choosing both schools will not increase a student’s chances of admission, as application review remains highly selective for all academic programs at Cornell. Please note that during Early Decision application review, students will only be considered for admission to their primary choice.

The Nolan School of Hotel Administration teaches business through the lens of hospitality. Students will study areas of business such as hospitality management, hotel administration, real estate, service management, finance, and food and beverage management.

The Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management offers a business education with a focus on global engagement. Students will study areas of business such as entrepreneurship, finance, marketing, data analytics and international trade.
